Annunciation, 2021
The arrival of an angel to tell Mary of her destined role is a common topic among Christian artwork, and for Annunciation, I drew upon Fra Angelico's The Annunciation for the scene and poses of the figures. This version does not portray a heavenly angel, but some other unknown creature whose message is unclear. Both figures are given halos to indicate their importance. The left side of the painting is darker, while the right is illuminated by the seated figure. Despite the horrific appearance of the messenger, it is bowing in deference to "Mary", whose arms are attempting to protect her torso from any threat.

Purchase InquiryAfter Bernini, 2021
After Bernini draws from Gian Lorenzo Bernini's Ecstasy of Saint Teresa. My painting of this pose portrays the angel with a beatific smile on their face, but I have changed the gender of the angel to be more feminine. My version of St. Teresa is now a demonic figure with horns, but still enraptured by the arrow representing deific love. The black demonic halo is breaking apart, showing that love is given and granted to all.

Purchase InquiryRocking Imp, 2021
Inspired by Ross Fiorentino's Angel playing the lute, Rocking Imp is my take on the scene. The cherub is replaced with an imp, and the lute with an electric guitar, as a nod to the cultural view of rock n' roll as the "devil's music."
